Robert Schofield, managing director at The Langham, Chicago, brings more than 30 years of national and international experience in the hospitality arena to the luxury property. Overseeing all operations of the property, Schofield believes in creating a culture of proactive hospitality through engagement and empowerment of his staff. “Our vision for The Langham, Chicago is to build this property to be the best of its class by instilling passion and pride in performance for all colleagues,” Schofield says. “This perception ensures our guests receive complete satisfaction throughout their luxurious experience.”
Similar to The Langham brand, Schofield is a London native himself, a graduate of Foulkes Lynch College with a degree in finance and accounting, and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United Kingdom. He went on to work for major hotel brands in roles ranging from general manager to vice president of finance in regions including the United Kingdom, Caribbean, United States, South America, Africa, and Canada. His background includes work as the executive vice president of operations and chief financial officer for L’Ermitage Hotels in Los Angeles; managing director of the Fairfax Hotel at Embassy Row in Washington, D.C., and for The Umstad Hotel in Raleigh, NC; as vice president of finance roles with The Sheraton Corporation and InterContintental Hotel Corporation; and as managing director of several acclaimed five-star independent Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Prior to his current position, Schofield played an instrumental role in achieving the Forbes Five Star rating for The American Club Resort in Kohler, WI for the first time in 28 years.
An avid sports fan, Schofield enjoys spending his spare time watching local and international sports. He resides in Chicago with his wife, Helen, and their two Shih Tzu’s Heathcliff and Valentino.
